FAQ

List Title

1 / What can I expect at my first appointment?

During this initial session, you can expect the following:

  • Review of Paperwork: We’ll go over any forms you’ve completed, including consent for treatment, confidentiality, and privacy policies (such as HIPAA).

  • Personal and Mental Health History: We’ll ask about your current concerns, mental health history, medical background, and any past experiences with therapy or mental health treatment. This helps us better understand your context and how best to support you.

  • Discussion of Symptoms and Life Stressors: You’ll have an opportunity to talk about how you’ve been feeling emotionally, mentally, and physically. We'll explore areas such as mood, anxiety, sleep, relationships, work or school stress, and coping strategies.

  • Goals for Therapy: We'll work together to identify what you'd like to achieve through therapy—whether that’s managing symptoms, building skills, improving relationships, or gaining insight.

  • Time for Questions: You’ll have a chance to ask questions, share any preferences or concerns, and clarify anything about the therapy process.

This appointment typically lasts about 55 minutes. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered from the very beginning.

2 / Do you accept insurance?

Our practice is considered an out-of-network provider with all insurance plans. This means we do not have a direct contract with insurance companies, and services provided may be reimbursed at an out-of-network rate, depending on your specific plan.

We are happy to provide you with a detailed invoice (superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Coverage varies, so we recommend contacting your insurer in advance to understand your out-of-network benefits, including any deductibles or reimbursement percentages.

Our goal is to offer you the highest quality of care, so we are happy to assist you in navigating the reimbursement process.

3 / Do you provide in-person or virtual services?

For your convenience, we offer both in-person sessions at our office and secure telehealth (virtual) appointments. Whether you prefer face-to-face interaction or the flexibility of meeting from the comfort of your home, we are happy to accommodate your needs. You’re welcome to choose the format that works best for you, and we can adjust as your preferences or circumstances change.

4 / How long is an appointment?

Individual therapy sessions typically last 25 minutes for a child or adolescent and 55 minutes for an adult. Family and couple sessions are 55 minuteswhich is considered the standard "therapeutic hour."

This allows time for meaningful work while maintaining a consistent structure and rhythm to the therapeutic process.

If different session lengths are needed—such as extended sessions or shorter check-ins—these can be discussed and arranged based on clinical need and availability.

5 / How often are sessions?

Therapy sessions are typically scheduled on a weekly basis to provide consistency and support meaningful progress. The duration of therapy varies for each individual and is guided by your unique goals, needs, and the pace of your progress.

We’ll regularly check in together to assess how things are going and make adjustments as needed. Therapy may continue until you feel you've achieved your goals, developed effective coping strategies, or reached a point where ongoing support is no longer necessary.

Our aim is to support you for as long as it’s helpful—and to empower you toward long-term well-being.

6 / Is therapy confidential?

The information provided is conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to ensure your privacy and confidentiality.
